I’ve just read on Inhabit about a fabulous book called D.I.Y Kids by Ellen and Julia Lupton.
It engages kids in making stuff, from binding their own books to sewing their own clothes. The activities are intended for ages 7–12, yet they could be modified to suit other ages… or the book could be kept for a very long time.
Here is the first activity for kids that you can download and print.
You could instruct your child to colour in the letters in a pattern to help the readability of the bird’s crow. Starting from the top right… (c. o. in colour 1) (c. k. a. in colour 2) (d. o. o. d. l. e. in colour 1 again) (d. o. o. o. o. in colour 2 again) and the background in a contrasting colour.
But that would be totally design obsessive, wouldn’t it?
